Our Founder

Karen MacAulay, M.A.

Karen MacAulay is a distinguished speaker, educator, and leader focused on Indigenous topics. Over the past decade, Karen founded indigecation and in her Workshops, she discusses how historical events have divided Canada into two societies: Non-Indigenous and Indigenous Peoples. Many Canadians are unaware of this divide; nobody was supposed to know about the “hidden” side of this country now called Canada.

Karen is a member of Kinosao Sipi (Norway House Cree Nation), Manitoba, and was born and raised in Winnipeg, her mother of Cree descent and her father, Ukrainian. With over 35 years of experience working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in both urban health care settings and schools in First Nation communities in Northern Manitoba, she has dedicated her professional career to helping others overcome communication barriers.  She now integrates her expertise in healthcare and educational systems with her understandings and beliefs rooted in Indigenous culture and through indigecation’s services, she seeks to promote healing within a divided nation by igniting one conversation at a time between all Peoples of this country.
