Our Founder

Karen MacAulay, M.A.

Karen MacAulay is the Founder and CEO of indigecation, and a member of Kinosao Sipi (Norway House Cree Nation), Manitoba. She is a speaker, educator and leader of topics, all things Indigenous. Karen was born and raised in Winnipeg; her mother is of Cree heritage, and her father is Ukrainian.

Having gained over 30 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Winnipeg’s Urban and smaller First Nation community settings in Northern Manitoba, Karen has helped others overcome communication barriers throughout her professional career.

Only in her 40s did she learn about the real history of Indigenous people, and she knew she wasn’t alone. Because of this, Karen is on a ferocious mission to improve awareness about Canada’s Indigenous and non-Indigenous collective history through clear and reliable Indigenous awareness training to empower teams and motivate positive workplace cultures, partnerships, and customer or client interactions.

Through indigecation training, along with other initiatives such as facilitating Circles for Reconciliation, Karen is committed to empowering corporate decision-makers in Manitoba to become Indigenous advocates and allies by supporting their strategies for truth and reconciliation.
