Why

indigecation’s vision is to empower Manitoba’s
Corporate Leaders to become
Indigenous and Reconciliation advocates.

Who is the Indigenous Awareness Training for?

The Indigenous Awareness Training is designed to educate anyone who works with, serves or interacts with Indigenous people. The training is particularly crafted for leadership, executives, and professionals in the corporate sector.

Where is this training held and for how long?

In-person training will take place at your company site, preferably in a boardroom or classroom. Virtual live-guided training can take place over Zoom. The training capacity for either in-person or live-guided options is 25 people.

What certification could this training provide?

Each participant will receive a certificate of completion for completing the Transforming our Collective History – Indigenous Awareness training. This can be used towards your company’s equity, diversity and inclusion strategy or your reconciliation in action strategies.

Why do I need to take Indigenous Awareness Training?

There is a great opportunity to improve as a society by transforming our understanding of Indigenous people today and throughout history. Unfortunately, Canadians still don’t know Canada’s “hidden” history, including Canada’s assimilation policies that have lasting effects still felt by Indigenous people today. Also, because of the lack of knowledge, many Canadians hold harmful prejudices about Indigenous people in life and at work. Indigenous Awareness Training can help leaders think confidently to cultivate respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples and support the development of well-rounded, diverse teams.

Indigenous Awareness Training for Professionals and Executives

Training through indigecation provides authentic storytelling embedded with reliable information such as facts, terms, and contexts around the history of Indigenous peoples. Each participant will have the opportunity to hear the “hidden” side of Canadian history, evaluate their perspectives through an Indigenous lens, recognize their impact in the workplace and transform their reconciliation strategies. Participants will leave the training aware of their place in Canadian society and be empowered to become Indigenous advocates and allies in their workplace and through customer relations. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion and a strategy to implement in their reconciliation plans.
