Mission

To empower corporate leaders in Manitoba to become Indigenous and reconciliation advocates, indigecation aims to support their strategies for truth and reconciliation and improve participants’ awareness of Canada’s Indigenous and non-Indigenous collective history.

Values

To provide credible educational programs to the public about Indigenous Peoples in this land called Canada, past and present

Four Pillars – The indigecation Difference

Education = Learning

Canadian citizens must learn that this country was colonized by European settlers over three centuries ago, resulting in the formation of two distinct societies: Non-Indigenous and Indigenous citizens. This historical fact is not widely known among Canadians. indigecation’s workshops fosters a safe, respectful, and empowering environment to educate individuals about Canada’s “hidden” past.

Recognition = Understanding

Understanding the complex aspects of Canadian history, particularly those involving Indigenous Peoples, can be challenging for many Canadians. It is difficult to confront the centuries of harm and injustices inflicted upon Indigenous Peoples and communities. Canadians must actively work to unlearn the misconceptions that have been taught. indigecation specializes in guiding participants to break the stereotypes and myths about Indigenous Peoples that persist in our society today.

Application = Acknowledgement

When unlearning what has been traditionally taught about Canadian history, it is important to acknowledge the impacts of harms that have been inflicted upon Indigenous Peoples that persist today. Understanding this requires thorough research, difficult conversations, and self-reflection to identify and address personal biases. indigecation workshops provide a safe environment to help participants work through the process of applying this new perspective to view history through a new lens which includes all citizens equally with integrity.

Transformation – Changing

Real change can only be achieved when the citizens of this country acknowledge the ongoing humanitarian issues and trauma that continue to surround and oppress Indigenous peoples and confront their personal narratives to address the divide that has persisted for over three centuries. indigecation aims to provide a foundation for positive societal growth beyond the trauma that continues to affect a specific group of citizens today. It is crucial that society collectively engages in difficult conversations to foster genuine transformation within these lands we call Canada.
